The Homo Sapiens named Shreyas Nadkarni, a.k.a "Me"

I am Shreyas Nadkarni, a fourth year engineering student in the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) in an Inter-Disciplinary Dual Degree Program (B.Tech in Electrical Engineering and M.Tech in AI and Data Science). I am a resident of Mumbai, India. I am a lover of books (both fiction and non-fiction) and melodious songs. I also like coding, studying, walking, playing chess and badminton and to interact with people, explore new places (especially ones of natural beauty), and to go on long meditative walks listening to music or audiobooks!

In the last few months, I have exposed myself to a lot of material related to self-improvement, productivity, personal well-being, lifestyle and other related stuff. One of the techniques which I have come across through many sources during this exploration is the technique of journaling. Writing your thoughts has shown to have many psychological benefits. The blog is an attempt to pen down my personal thoughts and reflections on what I feel makes my life good and what kind of philosophy I like to base my life on. I also write reviews of some of the best books I have read from multiple genres. Writing reviews of books is a very enriching experience since it enables us to relive the experience of reading it and, if it is a non-fiction book, to revise the content that has been conveyed and retain it better.

I am always slightly sceptical when someone throws a piece of advice to me consciously or unconsciously, with or without any motive, and paradoxically the blog might seem like me contradicting myself and giving advice to others. But the primary motivation behind this creation is to aid myself, rather than others. I believe writing self-help stuff helps the writer more than the reader. It’s self-help from the perspective of the donor more than the recipient. However, if the stuff I write brings with it the by-product of helping others improve their life or make some sense of things, it would be awesome.

Another obvious reason for this is my wish to explore writing as a hobby. It is supremely difficult to write extensively on one particular non-fiction topic such as science or cosmology or philosophy since it requires an extensive amount of research. Writing fiction is even tougher, in my opinion. While writing personal thoughts is also not a chill ride, the research and expertise needed to validate the correctness is comparatively less. It’s a distillation of ideas I have gathered by reading books, watching videos and interacting with the people in my life, ones which have helped me change my life positively in ways I had previously not imagined.

I plan to write on various subjects such as psychology, philosophy, science, evolution and technology. I would also be recommending some books, articles or videos at places, especially where I feel it necessary to ‘cite’ them. The goal would be to filter out the ideas that have most appealed to me and which I feel can have glorious implications if remembered and employed in a practical setting. So, if you want to read my work, I am glad to be awarded your precious time and attention.
